(Corrected version) Reagan had an Astrologer - Now We have a MAGAfluencer
From Mercury in Retrograde to Deep State Meltdown
Dear Readers:
I am resending this post, as new information about Laura Loomer’s preference for the Surgeon General has just been public revealed.See the note in the Loomer examples below.
Advisors are a vital element of decision making in any presidency, but some bizarre and even potentially dangerous choices when it comes to helping determine the fate of the nation. In my lifetime, two presidents - Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump - stand out for using unconventional assistance to make critical decisions.
Most people were unaware, during his presidency, that Ronald Reagan's schedule for travel and meetings was set by the stars. Reagan’s reliance on astrology, primarily through First Lady, Nancy and her consultation with astrologer Joan Quigley, began after the 1981 assassination attempt, when Nancy Reagan became extremely protective. She turned to Quigley to insure her husband’s safety, even installing direct phone lines to the astrologer at Camp David and in the White House.
All major meetings, travel, public appearances, and even takeoffs and landings of Air Force One were timed according to Quigley’s astrological charts.
Examples:
1985 Geneva summit with Mikhail Gorbachev
Exact timing of public addresses and debates, including State of the Union addresses
Timing of Reagan’s re-election campaign launch in 1984
Visits with foreign leaders and overseas trips often rearranged or rescheduled
Quigley’s advice often overrode the Secret Service or military planning, creating internal friction, but he public didn’t become aware of Quigley’s influence until former Chief of Staff, Donald Regan’s 1988 memoir. The news created a brief uproar amid concerns about superstition influencing national policy. Imagine if a “star-crossed” disaster had occurred as a result of following the Quigley chart.
So, here we are in 2025 with an unqualified, mentally unstable, Donald Trump in the White House. Perhaps to prevent their use of the 25th Amendment to remove him from office, Trump has installed the most incompetent, unqualified cabinet in presidential history, and his advisors aren’t much better. While Reagan relied on the cosmos, Trump takes advice from a whacko far-right extremist whose posts on X and visits to the Oval Office influence his hiring and firing actions.
Laura Loomer is an internet personality known for promoting conspiracy theories and staging public spectacles.
Loomer was welcomed into the far right circle in 2017 after interrupting a performance of Julius Caesar in New York’s Central Park. Loomer stormed onto the stage, shouting, “Do you want Trump to be assassinated?” She was arrested, but earned an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News. Over the course of the past 8 years, Loomer has posted endless racist and Islamaphobic content and pushed a barrage of baseless conspiracy theories.
Examples:
Haitians eating pets
Multiple school shootings were staged
Sept. 11 was an inside job
Biden orchestrated the July, 2024 assassination attempt against Trump
Loomer celebrated the deaths of immigrants crossing the Mediterranean
Laura Loomer is MAGA at its most extreme and closer to Donald than most of his Cabinet.
She has more than a million followers on X, where she posts hateful comments about migrants, democrats, and anyone else who isn’t a hard core Christian Nationalist Trump supporter. A frequent guest at Mar-a-Lago, Loomer campaigned at Trump’s side, often travels with him, and has visited the White House to give her opinion about hiring and firing. Trump has praised Loomer for making recommendations, and recent personnel actions indicate he follows her advice about who is and isn’t loyal enough to serve Trump and his agenda. She is obviously a trusted confidante.
Examples:
The Atlantic reported that Loomer was asked to put together a list at the State Department who are not MAGA loyalists
Loomer took credit for Trump’s firing General Timothy D. Haugh, the head of the National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command after she questioned Haugh’s loyalty
Trump fired at least five NSC staff members on Loomer’s recommendation during the same closed door meeting
Trump withdrew the nomination of Dr. Janette Nesheiwat for U.S. Surgeon General after Loomer criticized her for supporting COVID-19 vaccines. (However, Loomer is not a fan of Trump’s replacement for Nesheiwat which may be indicative of a power struggle with RFK, Jr. who has pushed for anti-vaxxer, Dr. Casey Means)
There is no indication that Loomer influenced the nomination of Fox New Host and Trump super-loyalist, Jeanine Pirro, as a replacement for Ed Martin to lead the U.S. attorney’s office in D.C. However, it wouldn’t come as a surprise. Loomer is on a mission to make sure that only the most conspiracy minded Trump and Christian; Nationalist loyalists have a place in the administration.
